Zen ultrafone 701 HD: A worthy Micromax Canvas HD and UMI S1 competitor
Ever since Micromax has released the first budget quad core processor phone in the market there have been plenty of competitors who have been vying to take over this newly created niche in the Indian market.
Though the likes of UMI X2, Jiayu G4, UMI S1 and Indian brands like Karbonn Titanium S5 have proved to be competing, and in some cases like the UMI X2 proved to be superior in terms of specifications there still remains the general distrust to Chinese brands and lack of service networks in the country for people to readily adopt them.
In such a case the newly released Zen Ultrafone 701 HD proves that it is a worthy competitor to the Micromax A116.
In terms of the Specs department this phone closely mimics the Canvas HD and sports a 5 inch screen with 720p Capacitaitve HD resolution, 8MP camera and powered by MediaTek quad core processor.
The impressive part is that the company is claiming the phone will run Android 4.2 out of the box while the Micromax Canvas HD runs on Android 4.1.2.

This handset will run on a Quad core MTK 6589 CPU clocked at 1.2GHz with PowerVR SGX 544 GPU, which is same as the Canvas HD. The same chipset also powers the UMI X2

The primary Camera will be 8MP camera with flash and a 3.2MP front camera.
|While the 8MP camera is good the front facing 3.2MP camera is bound to give you good stills and will be great for video chatting!!|
It’s a dual SIM (Dual Standby mode) handset with 3G support. The RAM as mentioned on the Zen Mobile website is 1GB and as for internal storage it’s 4GB with micro SD support.
There is built in 3G/2G, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB, 3.5mm jack and GPS. The battery is of or 2000 mAh capacity with standby time of about 240 hours and talktime of up to 8 hours.
The company is also offering a slew of goodies like free back cover, Leather flip cover and more for those who pre book this device

Spec wise this is a great phone and with Zen service network available in major parts of the country this seems to be a worthy competitor to the Micromax A116: Canvas HD.
Even the pricing seems to be just right compared to the inflated price of clos to 16000INR of the Canvas HD. Though the UMI S1 beats this phone in terms of internal storage space the phone is yet to release or make an impact on the Indian market.
However only the hands on review will tell us how good the phone will be compared to the Canvas HD and the recently released UMI S1. Till then we will keep you posted.
